One Down: Celebrating Porter’s First Birthday

As portrait photographers we get to witness children and families grow. From the maternity photography to newborn portraits all the way up to the first birthday portraits and beyond, we capture the significant moments that make up a family’s visual history.

It sure has been amazing watching PW grow up over the last year. Stay tuned for his Year in Pictures.

Band of Bearded Brothers

So as many of you know, I have begun a personal project on the bearded, and this past Saturday I caught wind of a beard judging in Westminster, MA. Obviously I couldn’t pass up any beard related activity. Westminster, Ma is celebrating its 250th anniversary and has coordinated events throughout the year such as the Brothers of the Brush beard competition. The gets even more interesting as the neighboring town of Princeton is also holding a beard competition, which on April 5 both the Westminster beard team and the Princeton beard team will engage in a tug-of-war battle across a pond at Wachusett Mountain. I’m not sure of the details yet, if you are interested in attending send me an email and I’ll let you know when I find out the details.

So here is a glimpse at my Saturday afternoon…

Didn’t we just have like 2 full days of snow and rain?

A Comment on the New England Weather

New Englanders Unite! I will start this post with the bold statement that I have yet to complain about the weather during what people have called “the worst winter in a long time.” It was cold, it snowed all the time, not to mention we suffered through a devastating ice storm that took power away from millions. The end of February brought change though, we had a really nice week with some mild temps, but then March comes in and dumps a foot of snow the first week. No complaints from me.

And then, the weekend we change the clocks forward, we get some absolutely beautiful weather. It’s almost as if we double-dared Mother Nature to throw down some hope and inspiration to wait it out. Soon the New England  Spring will hit; flowers bloom, grass grows, trees bud, and the windows open. And then everyone will start complaining about the rain … no pleasing some people. Enjoy the weather, its the only one we got.
