Seems like forever since we posted a First Birthday, cake destruction shoot. So at long last we present this session, which took place in Stockton, CA, with the Stryker family who are near and dear to our hearts. We had the opportunity to use some of that beautiful California light and got to shoot the cake on location and outdoors. Usually we have the high-key, white seamless but we had to improvise on this day and I think we did alright. Sometimes 50% of a photographers time is spent problem solving. Salome didn’t mind the location at all as she tore into that cake pretty good!
Thank you to the Stryker family for the great evening, we hope to see you all soon!

It was an experience photographing Lilee over the last year and a half and it was just as much fun putting together this book. They grow so fast during that first year and to have all of your favorite images in one spot is the perfect way to show off the first year in pictures. These books are hard bound with hinged pages allowing the book to lie flat when opened. Also, like all of our other products, these photo books are designed with your own personal style in mind.

Happy Birthday Drew! What a great session with this little guy. There was so much energy going on it was tough to keep up with his little legs. Although this was only our first session with Drew he warmed up really fast and was really phenomenal to photograph. He was in a great mood for the entire session so it was easy to capture his personality. It’s always best to plan a shoot around the child’s daily schedule; timely naps and plenty of snack breaks are so important on a first birthday portrait session, which we should credit Mom & Dad for that (thanks Erin and Andrew, mostly Erin!).

Lowell, MA – We’ve been pretty lucky this year to have had the opportunity to photograph a handful of first birthdays this year. I have to say that they never get old! Reagan was a great subject to photograph, I mean seriously look at those blue eyes.
The cake shots were funny because at first she didn’t really know what to do with the birthday cake, but she caught on soon enough. Kids are so funny when you sit them next to the cake. It can go either way, from a full nose dive into the cake, to the “uh… is this a toy or food or what” expressions. But we’ve yet to have anyone not come away completely covered in cake… which is the whole point, right?
As family portrait photographers we try to provide a fun experience along with producing the images. We want everyone to enjoy their time with us, so when the next milestone comes around the whole family can get excited to have their pictures taken.
