Love at The Old Stone Church
West Boylston, MA – Photographing in New England affords us the opportunity to visit some beautifully historic places. Here, a 19th century stone church still stands; aptly named, The Old Stone Church in West Boylston, is a gorgeous relic sitting right on the Wachusett Reservoir. It’s a popular spot for a Sunday stroll and we were excited when Cathy and Greg chose to meet us there for their engagement session.
Normally, engagement sessions are the ‘get to know ya’ kind of time, but seeing how we’ve known these two love-birds for awhile, it was more about having fun and getting them used to the camera. It was a great session at a great location and we’re really looking forward to their wedding this coming June.

Yup, all we did was hang out, laugh, had a ton of fun and, oh yeah, we took some pictures too!
Hopedale, MA – Matt and Lisa are going to be married on May 28th, 2011 and for their engagement session, they decided to meet us at Hopedale Pond. Can’t begin to describe how much fun we had; we pretty much laughed for like at hour and a half. And that’s what this is all about, having fun taking portraits and getting to know each other. Our whole philosophy behind offering a complimentary engagement session with our wedding collections is so our clients can experience being photographed by us before their wedding day. We feel that if we show up cold on the big day that it’s like re-introducing ourselves, as opposed to walking in and saying “hey” like we’ve been friends for years. That’s our take on it anyway, and it’s been working so we’re not changing.
We’re looking forward to Matt and Lisa’s wedding at the end of the month and stay tuned for their sneak peek, here on the blog!

Mid-Winter Boston Common Engagement Session
Boston, MA – So our whole plan was to go skating at the frog pond to capture some candid moments and have Mark and Mandy all warmed up for some portraits. Well, what we didn’t anticipate was that it was one of the coldest days in January and a 45 minute wait just to get on the ice… YIKES! So, as you can imagine, without a proper warm up in single degree weather our super couple was a bit cold for the shoot, but they braved through it and we ended up getting some great stuff. Just looking at the images you wouldn’t think it was well below freezing out. Even though we didn’t get a whole engagement session in that day, we all had fun and certainly had something to laugh about in the future. And of course, Mark got to wear his Boston Bruins sweater for some pictures, which made his day!
Engagement sessions are such a good bonding experience between a couple and their photographers. We had already had the opportunity to get to know Mark and Mandy a bit from photographing a wedding in October where they were both in the wedding party; but it was great to have the 2 on 2 time build that relationship up a bit. Because although we are in the business of photography, we’re also in the business of making people smile and that’s key to our photography. And for us, watching young people in love, laughing, braving the elements for the sake of pictures is really inspiring to us.
