A Peek at Derek + Erica’s Spring Wedding

Topsfield, MA – On May 30, 2010 we enjoyed the privilege of photographing Derek + Erica’s wedding at The Commons of Topsfield. It was a beautiful day to be in love and a perfect day to get married. Here are a few of our favorites… much more to come. Congratulations to the bride and groom, thanks for letting us be a part of your day!

Family Photography and High Energy Children

“You won’t really know if you got it, so keep shooting”

Lowell, MA - This was one of the most high energy family sessions of last year. But what do you do when these sweet and adorable kids are so full of energy and can hardly stay still? In this case we got a lot of support from Mom and Dad (crucial to any family session), and we also took a ton of pictures. It was like shooting sports, where you follow the action and trust your auto focus. And of course we photographed the whole family together at the beginning of the session, when the kids were still warming up to the studio environment. After that we kind of just let them be themselves (which is our natural style anyway), as opposed to trying to pose them. The best part about a high energy session is that when you are looking back at your images your realize that you’ve captured their personalities perfectly.

Destination Massachusetts

Lowell, MA - Rachael+Ariel are planning their June wedding in Lenox, MA at the beautiful Seven Hills Inn. It’s actually a destination wedding for them and the majority of their guests because they are currently living in Florida. In fact they drove up only days before our engagement session. That’s a tough commute to get some wedding planning done, but we were delighted to hear that we’d have a chance to meet and have an engagement session before the wedding.

It’s pretty important for the couple and their photographers to get to know each other before the wedding. Engagement sessions are an opportunity to break the ice, have fun and make some pictures.

The Anticipation

Plymouth, MA - Between the organized chaos of the girls getting ready and they guys trying to figure out how to put on their tuxedos, there is just so much happening during the anticipation of a wedding. There are quiet moments of reflection, jokes and laughter, maybe some tears and an overwhelming feeling that everyone involved absolutely loves the bride and groom.

As wedding photographers, this is when we are anticipating the moments, both big and small. It also needs to be said that images from the getting ready are important in laying out the wedding day story. Like the beginnings of a book, they introduce the characters and set the tone for the images to come.
