How Fast They Grow

Lowell, MA – As we are transitioning into our new Live/Work loft we’ve been slacking on posting some of our recent families and kiddos. What better way to start a string of posts than with a cutie that we haven’t seen in a couple of years. You might remember Reagan from her 1st Birthday Shoot way back in 2009. A couple months ago, in the midst of preparing for our move we were delighted to see an inquiry from this incredible family. And they’re expecting another child in just a few months, so we wanted to combine some family, children and maternity portraits. And this was one of our first studio sessions in the new place, so it made for a nice transition for us.

Personality!

Letting them be themselves…

Lowell, MA – While working with young children it’s always our goal to create images that show off their personality. The best way to do this is to plan some time during the session that is devoted to just having fun and playing. This session with Lilee (around 18 mo. in these images) shows a child just having fun which allows for the wonderfully expressive moments. At 18 months there is very little posing going on anyway, as you can imagine, so it’s natural to  allow the child’s mood and energy level to dictate the pace of the session.

Family Portraits On Location

We can’t begin to tell you how much fun it was to photograph the Atkins family at their gorgeous new home. This was a super high energy shoot, and with a 4 yr old and a 1 year old we really weren’t expecting anything else. With this type of session we always keep an open platform and feed off of the energy and enthusiasm of the kiddos. We want the kids to have fun and enjoy the experience so they will be excited when its time for pictures.

Family portraits taken at a home add another dynamic to the photographs, because a home is part of the family. This is where the everyone comes together and it is important to incorporate that into the session. Location portraits at home are also a great opportunity to catch the kids in their own environment, with minimal distractions.

Summer is nearly over and this Fall is going to be great for pictures, so give us a call to discuss your family’s next portrait session, 978.516.0370.
