With the popularity of the wedding photo booth over the last few years we thought we’d give it a shot this past year with some incredible results.  With a wedding reception consisting of pretty much, eating, drinking, chatting and dancing, adding another activity for your guests will certainly add to their experience. Generally speaking, the majority of people are camera shy until they have an opportunity to take pictures with their friends. Add in a few adult sodas and it’s on!

The age of guest table shots is over, and thankfully so. Table shots are awkward and completely off putting for a wedding guest.  So the Photo Booth is also a great way for the bride and groom to receive great pictures of their guests. Not to mention the value it adds to your guests who have an opportunity to see a quality photo of themselves and their friends and family.

Here’s how we work it: We usually have our trusty photo booth photographer extraordinaire set up during dinner time. Set up includes a backdrop, tripod/camera and lights, which can be squeezed into a 10′x10′ spot in the reception area or adjacent lobby or room. The fun is ready to begin as soon as guests are finished their dinner. Customized cards with the online gallery information are provided, so your guests can easily access the images on their own.

Atkinson, NH – On a gorgeous Autumn evening, Chris and Lyndsey were married at the Atkinson Resort in Atkinson, NH. This wedding was one we had been anticipating since we met the bride and groom way back in early 2009. The four of us have seen each other about a half dozen times for consultations, print deliveries and of course, their engagement session so we’ve definitely had a lot of time to get to talk and get to know each other. This added a bit of sentimentality to our day because we couldn’t be happier for these two!

Bolton, MA – New England in the Fall is a perfectly romantic time to get married. Ben and Ricki-Ann tied the knot at The International Golf Resort in beautiful Bolton, Massachusetts. This is New England’s only 5 star golf resort, so you can imagine how great of a time everyone had at the wedding and the whole weekend as well. The bride and groom were smiles from ear to ear and it was an absolutely exceptional wedding.

Mendon, MA – Here’s one of our favorite engagement sessions of the summer and you may recognize these two as we’ve just posted the sneak peek to their wedding. Heather and Dave chose Southwick’s Zoo in Mendon, MA for their engagement session and it was a very interesting choice. It was one of those “scattered showers” kind of spring day and without an opportunity for a rain date we crossed our fingers and toughed it out. We arrived a couple hours before closing and we had the whole place to ourselves, which was pretty special.

Choosing an interesting and meaningful location can make an engagement session that much more special. It helps to create a comfortable atmosphere and break the ice a bit between photographer and subject. Heather and Dave’s session is a prime example of this. These two are so sweet and cute around each other that it made it super easy to have a great time.

Castle Hill on The Crane Estate

Ipswich, MA - Steven and Sevi originally wanted to have their engagement photos taken at the college where they met in Swampscott, MA. Unfortunately we had some issues with access to that particular property, so we decided to travel a few miles north to Castle Hill at the Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA. This was probably the best decision we made because it turned out perfectly. With it’s completely unique setting, The Crane Estate offers a variety of different opportunities for an engagement session. We’ve blogged about this property before with Carol and Paul’s wedding.

With no one else around on this beautiful June afternoon, the four of us walked around Castle Hill like we owned the place. As New England based wedding and portrait photographers, we dream of shooting on properties such as this with it’s history and grandeur. Given the opportunity, we could have photographed these two love birds for hours and hours, but luckily for them there is only so much light in a day! All in all we had a great time photographing this engagement session and can’t wait to make it back.

Mount Auburn is National Landmark and  a very interesting venue for a wedding. The bride and groom wanted a small and unique wedding ceremony and this chapel was absolutely perfect for them. The flowers, shoes, rings, jewelery, invitations, colors, etc., can be exhausting in their selection process, but it’s all worth it when it comes together as a cohesive theme. The getting ready details from this May wedding show a blue and green theme, anchored by the bride’s choice of shoes. Absolutely beautiful!
