Babies grow and change so much during the first year. Our Baby Step plan is the perfect way to capture all of those milestones. We cover everything from the belly bump to the first birthday cake smash. There are three ways for me to capture this time in your life. The first is studio based, these are all posed portraits in our studio. We use a variety of backgrounds, props, and lots of outfit changes. The second is documentary style, I come to your home and document what your life is like. For example, mama rocking baby in the chair, daddy feeding bananas, baby playing with it’s favorite blocks, the family snuggling on the couch. The last is a hybrid of the two, with all the portraits at your home using items from your home and toys as props. The last seems to be the most popular option. Young babies seem to be more comfortable when in their own environment and moms stress less because they don’t have to worry about lugging everything to the studio. However they are two very distinct looks and it is recommended to stick with one option throughout the plan though it is not a requirement.

Sessions and what to prepare for.
Most sessions are between 45 minutes to an hour. The Newborn and Cake smash add an additional 40 minutes do to the complexity of the shoot. Home sessions – It’s recommended that all all rooms are clean and clutter free. If you can see it, it can end up in the background, although I try and frame my lens to hide distracting objects.
Belly Bump
Studio - Bring 4 or 5 of your favorite outfits. The majority of the images will be focused on the mom but I want to capture the love and anticipation between the parents so dads be prepared to be in the photos. Mom and dad should plan on coordinating the colors and style to at least two of moms outfits. I love the look of all black stretchy clothing like yoga pants and mid or long sleeve t-shirt.
Home - Moms, have 1 or 2 outfits on hand. I love including ones of your favorite pregnancy outfit. Even if it’s old sweats and a stained t-shirt. Dads casual but coordinating moms outfit choices. Some ideas to incorporate: doing something to put the nursery together with your husband, folding baby’s tiny clothing on your belly
Newborn
Although the focus is always on the baby I do love to capture the interaction between between members of the family. Dark clothing for the adults seems to look best. Make sure everyone’s outfits coordinate color and style. This session is a bit longer as most babies need to stop and eat to keep them happy and cooperative. We are boob friendly and breast feeding is completely accepted.
If you love the snuggled up sleeping baby look I recommend your session be no later than 7 days after birth. If you would prefer the more alert newborn photos any time within the first month works.

First Birthday
Home & Studio: 4 favorite outfits, plain white onesie, baby blanket, favorite toy and or stuffy, 6-9 inch cake for baby to smash and eat. Diaper cover, bib, sash, tutu, jeans or birthday outfit {note this will be covered in cake/frosting by the end. I also have a whole stash of fun outfits I have created for past themed cake sessions. If you have a particular look or theme you want to do I am open to suggestions.
The flow of the session generally goes like this: We start off with some family portraits and love to include everyone in the family, 1 to 3 outfit changes
Products and work flow
After each session I will take all the photos and narrow that down so the best 30 or so. I will fully retouch each image and present them on our website proofing gallery {you can use your print credit on prints and products here}, your own personal webpage on our website for sharing and send the files to you via dropbox within three weeks of the session. The studio does get super busy at times and I always process everything in order of when it was shot. While I do try and edit out any blemishes and owies, please note that it is time consuming to remove things like jewelry or change ill-fitting clothing. Some things are possible be we do have to charge an editing fee for complex jobs. I’m happy to retouch any fly-aways or blemishes that snuck through the editing process.
We ask you to please only upload the web-sized watermarked images to social media sites. This protects both us as artists and images of you being used unlawfully. Our web-sized images have be optimized to be used on the internet whereas the print files are MUCH bigger and should only be used for making prints and products.
Creating the cards and frame – Once you are ready to put your product together we will chat about which images would look best and the look you are going for. I will show you a proof and we go back and forth for changes until you Love it. At that time it is sent to the lab and then delivered to you.
Legal Mumbo-Jumbo
All fees are non-refundable and are due by the newborn session. Payment plans can be arranged. If you need to cancel or reschedule your session please let us know right away. Not showing up for your session, you forfeit that session and it cannot be made up. The products can be exchanged for credit but cannot be refunded as cash. Please read and understand our baby plan contract and what you can and cannot do with the images and breach of this contract and you will forfeit the remainder or your membership.
